Support for QiKi Club

In a world of unbalanced power and resources, QiKi Club seeks to bring communities into better balance and alignment with the Dao. The Dao is a concept within Chinese philosophy that refers to the natural flow of the universe. It is the precursor to Yin and Yang which is the basis for East Asian Medicine. This concept was first introduced by the Wuyi, ancient Chinese shamans that were community healers. With this inspiration, we commit to:✹ Putting indigenous Asian medicine back into the hands of Asian community healers
✹ Creating a gathering hall for practitioners and community
✹ Providing accessible health and wellness services rooted in East Asian Medicine to the local community and greater East Bay Area

Who We Are

Led by Queer Asian practitioners and based in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area, California, we are a group of 15 health and care practitioners, artivists, and healing justice organizers that hail from the Asian Diaspora. Taking a holistic approach, we work to find balance among the mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of our being. By integrating the ancient wisdom of our ancestors, we seek to enhance health and well-being within our communities and beyond.

Our Values

We celebrate and center Asian diasporic medicine.

We honor lessons from our elders and our responsibility to future generations.

We take radical care of ourselves and one another.

We commit to using our individual and community power to achieve a more just and liberated future for all.

Our Dream

Our intention is to create an expansive space where Asian medicine, holistic healing, community, culture, education, and respite are abundant. Along with accessible care, we want to build a place where community providers can gather, learn, and receive nourishment to prevent burnout and serve our communities in resourced and sustainable ways. We envision a place that provides a sense of home where we share medicine, food, tea, skills, and intergenerational learning. A decolonized space of refuge, a space for family and kids, friends, and close kin. A space of vitality and creativity for movement organizers, for political freedom, and for our collective communities to thrive and grow.

Why Now?

Generative community spaces centering mutual aid are essential to our survival, especially in the political, economical, and climate situations we exist in today. This project will be impactful not only to those touched by it but to the way traditional medicines are held at large. Although East Asian Medicine has had a growing impact since its formal introduction to the US in the 1970s, it is largely held by white practitioners and financially inaccessible. Many people from the Asian diaspora, especially low-income elders, are not able to access their own ancestral medicine. A healing center led by Asian practitioners who value accessibility is one way we can challenge the status quo and influence how we use traditional medicines as tools of community empowerment.

Support Needed

We are gathering resources to purchase a building that is currently on the market for $824,500. The purchase of this building provides permanence, allows providers to operate at lower cost and generate funds to support elder services in Oakland Chinatown. Funds needed would cover a downpayment, closing costs, building renovations for accessibility and fire safety, and permitting. This is a community-led effort to raise funds to fulfill our dream. Thank you in advance for your support! If you have any questions/inquiries, feel free to email us at [email protected]Stay tuned for pop-up accupuncture clinics near you!
